VA - Welcome Home Project
The United States Department of Veterans Affairs offers many supportive programs for Veterans and their family. They assist with job placement opportunities; employment education; burial services and many more. One of the VA’s most honorable programs includes the VA Loan home buying program and although this program is a widely used service, many veterans can’t afford to purchase an entire home due personal circumstances. This may leave a single veteran especially vulnerable when faced with a disability that includes barriers to employment. In addition to this wide spread issue, the Department of Veterans Affairs is recognizing the rising number of homelessness among Veterans in the United States. The VA Administration has approved a new program that will accomplish this goal.
Our plan describes this particular type of individual as the targeted building tenant for this special program which is financially supported by the VA Department. It will provide adequate housing to support an individual Veteran or small family. Based on a Disabled or Homeless Veteran prerequisite approval concept, the VA Administration will support the rent payment for such individuals up to $1,000.00 / months. Approved VA candidates have the opportunity to participate in this unique program to avoid potential homelessness. Since The VA Administration does not provide facilities and/or the management/maintenance of such units, instead they are seeking potential partners to execute and provide such housing facilities to complete the program.
Our Mission:
To support the VA Administration in providing clean, safe, and respectable living spaces through the Disabled and Homeless Placement Program. The VA - Welcome Home Project provides apartments to Disabled and Homeless Veterans participating in this program, offering a place to live reflecting pride and dignity.
Our Vision:
The VA – Welcome Home Project's vision is to purchase a building that is suitable in size and units for this VA project. To identify a location, construct or purchase a building, find additional funding solutions for the renovation and management component and to expand this project successfully to other States. The VA Affair Administration depends on organizations such as VA-WHP for support and execution of the programs they put in place to assist their Veterans. It is this program availability that inspired Rose of Sharon Ministry to build on this program and provide such a support structure for the VA.
Our Veterans:
When we fully understand the psychological effects an individual made in participating in an active war, we will understand the patriotic duty we as fellow Americans have to support those Veterans. The ultimate human sacrifice one can do for their country is to give their life in combat to protect our American families and preserve our Freedom. But many soldiers come back having sacrificed parts of their body to injury during these times, others return with physical disabilities and mental health problems that will leave them with limited to few opportunities to find income sources to maintain a simple civilian life. Many become homeless!
It is our patriotic duty to become the executable extension of the Veterans Affair Administration to assist with and get actively involved in those programs they worked so hard on getting approved by the Government. But the problem isn’t solved with making these programs and funds available, the Administrations needs organizations to actually provide these apartment units and to management these structures permanently in order to successfully implement this program.
The VA-Welcome Home Project is tailored to this program to provide the proper units, management, and long-term housing solutions for our American Veterans with barriers to housing and employment.
As mentioned above, we owe it to these individuals to close the loop on this program and bring forth the VA – Welcome Home Project. As long as we need soldiers to protect our Country – this is the length of time we must support this program. Infinite!
Our grant for $4 million is currently pending, in the mean time we are working on funds from Walmart, Home Depot, Budweiser, Microsoft, and others. Please help support our Welcome Home Project by donating and please contact us for more information.
